DEWALT has just launched a new cordless platform to offer the professional power tool user a range of 28v machines incorporating Lithium-Ion Nano Technology.

The 28V platform offers ultimate cordless performance with a perfect power to weight ratio for a range of heavy duty cordless applications DEWALT Nano-Technology also offers the user maximum durability and battery cycle life - typically 2000 recharges per battery - figures unheard of with traditional battery chemistries

The DEWALT 28v Nano-Technology range also offers many innovative features to the cordless user.

Each tool in the new platform is powered by the 28v high performance battery pack.

The battery has a lightweight design - weighing similar to a conventional 14.4v battery, has no memory and virtually no self discharge.

In August 2007 DEWALT will launched the DC228KL SDS Rotary Hammer Drill - the central product to the range.

With key features such as AVC (Active Vibration Control) giving a tri-axial vibration reading of only 8m/s and rotary stop for chiselling applications (perfect for plumbers and electricians), the DC228KL will offer professional users a new generation cordless SDS hammer weighing in at just 3.4kg.

The smaller, lighter lithium-ion battery allows for excellent ergonomics, whilst giving 40% more runtime than a traditional 24v NiCd battery.

In addition to the DC228KL autumn 2007 will also see the launch of the DCX5401; the first DEWALT 28v Combo kit which comprises of the following tools: DC228KL SDS Rotary Hammer Drill, DC310KL Circular Saw, DC315KL Reciprocating Saw and DC519 Flashlight.

The combo kit will come with 2 Lithium-Ion Nano-Technology batteries and a one hour charger in the kitbox.

In addition to the DC228KL SDS Rotary Hammer Drill, the combo pack also includes the DC310KL Circular Saw which is designed around durability and accuracy with the high strength Magnesium shoe and upper guard bringing both these benefits to the user.

The 0 - 50deg bevel capacity allows for aggressive but accurate bevel cuts.

The anti slip comfort grip provides increased levels of safety by giving the user a firm grip on the tool, whilst also providing comfort in extended periods of use.

Also included in the combo pack is the DC315KL Reciprocating Saw which combines innovation with durability with the patented 4 position keyless blade clamp system offering ease of use as well as excellent ergonomics in a wide range of applications.

With cutting speeds up to 3000 spm and a stroke length of 29mm users can cut wood, metals and plastics fast.

The heavy duty motor with electric brake withstands the toughest of applications.

The DC519KL Flashlight completes this combo pack with features such as a flexible neck design with clips for versatility, and a wide angle beam of light providing much more light to the user than a conventional flashlight.

As with the existing 36v platform, DEWALT have once more partnered with A123 systems - a developer of new generation lithium-ion batteries, incorporating nanoscale technology to develop the new 28v batteries.

This technology has been developed exclusively for DEWALT for power tool applications and has been licensed at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

This unique battery chemistry offers a higher level of power, durability and life when compared with other conventional lithium technologies.

DEWALT are currently working on expanding this 28v platform to incorporate many more tools that have been successful in both the 36v and 18v systems and will announce further 28v launches in the coming months.
