Dimplex heat pumps supply domestic water heating

Dimplex air source heat pumps have been installed in a Travelodge hotel to meet building regulations and Merton Rule criteria.

The Travelodge in Devizes, Wiltshire has had three Dimplex LA 28 AS air source heat pumps fitted to pre-heat domestic hot water for the hotel.

The LA 28 AS heat pumps are freestanding units for outdoor installation, offering a flow temperature of up to 55C.

The LA 28 AS has a powder-coated metal casing to withstand the British climate, and is suitable for applications with limited internal space.

The LA AS range includes six models with nominal heating capacities of 11-16kW single phase, and 20-40kW three phase units.

The three phase models are fitted with twin compressors for higher capacity output and a choice of two performance capacities, giving a variable heating water flow temperature from 35-55C, with weather compensation.

The air source heat pumps are designed to deliver 100 per cent of the heating and hot water demand.

For retrofit applications it is possible to combine the heat pump with an existing boiler.

The LA AS unit has an air deflector hood to minimise noise.

It is suitable for use with underfloor heating or a radiator system and to provide domestic hot water.

A defrost cycle on the heat pumps minimises energy consumption.

Models with two compressors incorporate intelligent load switching to maximise compressor life.

The project won Non-Domestic Installation of the Year in the Dimplex 2009 Heat Pump Awards for accredited installer Micro-Generation Systems.
