DORMA At Duke Of York's Headquarters Refurbishment
Chelsea's King's Road £120m redevelopment of the Duke of York's headquarters.
The aim of the various police authorities involved is that by making the 'reasonable adjustments' to buildings required by the DDA, it will ensure that people with disabilities are able to access and move around in the public areas of the buildings without hindrance.
Automatic doors are an ideal solution as they provide a means of opening and closing doors without any need for physical contact.
This is relevant not just for those people with disabilities, but the elderly and injured as well.

Award Winning Manet Construct Now In the UK
Aesthetics and functionality come together beautifully with the new Manet Construct system from DORMA, winner of the coveted international 'reddot' design award.
Initially it was the Metropolitan Police who tested a number of door operators - from a selection of different manufacturers - in a mocked up working environment at Lambeth police station.
DORMA overcame the competition on product performance, reliability and the scale of its service and maintenance operation.
DORMA is the world's leading supplier of automatic door technology, offering an extremely comprehensive range of solutions four main types of which are used throughout the police refurbishment project.
The Compact Slide has been fitted to the majority of doors at the main entrance and reception areas throughout the project.
The DORMA Compact Slide is the most compact automatic slide door operator on the market at around a quarter the size of a conventional operator.
It measures just 100 mm x 100 mm in cross-section while retaining the performance, reliability and safety of a larger unit.
It is ideal for areas where aesthetics are important, fitting almost invisibly into the transom.
A special miniature radar actuator sits unobtrusively on the fascia, which can be connected to a wide range of safety sensors ensuring that all installations comply in full with the relevant British Standards.
A police spokesman said: "This has not only made access easier, but it has also improved the security of the front office, which was of concern when the offices are closed.
Also, the new doors will allow more light in and improve the general 'feel' of the buildings".
The DORMA ES 90 range of automatic modular sliding door operators are suitable for practically any type of sliding door.
The range is extremely versatile, being equally suitable for heavy exterior, or light interior doors.
The modern control unit can be fitted to meet individual needs and external interfaces for intelligent accessories or interlinking with outer doors are standard.
For areas in the building where normal manual operation of the door needs to be retained, but there is occasional need for assistance, a low energy door operator is the ideal solution.
The DORMA ED 800 offers a range of operating modes that enable the door to be opened under power when assistance is required - most commonly by means of a wall mounted push pad.
The door will continue to function as a normal manual door, until overridden by the activation of the low energy door operator.
To complement the ED 800 as general access automatic doors throughout the stations, the DORMA ED 200 has been selected.
It is an all-purpose swing door system ideal for retro-fitting to existing doors and offers a wide range of arm types, together with a complete selection of activators.
