DORMA products meet the challenge in the increasingly demanding office environment.

In the modern office environment, design and performance standards for automatic and manual door systems, ironmongery, glass fittings, and movable wall systems are probably the toughest they have ever been The products have to both look good and perform well against demanding and frequently changing compliance standards - Building Regulations and Fire Regulations for example - and inevitably there is an increasing need to consider aspects of security too

Then there is the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) which of course comes fully into force on October 1st of this year, requiring that to meet compliance many organisations are having to make 'reasonable adjustments' to the physical features of their premises.

Keeping pace with all this has presented quite a challenge to the leading door technology and hardware manufacturers in recent years and one that has been leading the field is DORMA UK Ltd, a subsidiary of the German based DORMA Group.

The company is one of the world's leading suppliers of access solutions and associated equipment, so no surprise that there is a comprehensive range of products on offer, for even the most discerning of designers.

Door furniture with Bauhaus origins.

The OGRO door furniture range from DORMA has been at the forefront of door handle design since the 1920's, when there was early collaboration with Wilhelm Wagenfeld, closely associated with the Bauhaus and one of the pioneers of German industrial design.

Many of the classic handles in the OGRO range have been originated by a famous designer, or for a specific building - Sieger, Nestl? and the Bauhaus itself being examples.

The range has a secure bolt-through fixing (the ZS fixing system) which has steel base plates designed to transmit forces to the door leaf, relieving the load on the furniture set and lock.

The range, available in aluminium and stainless steel with an anodised finish, is both aesthetically pleasing and will withstand heavy internal and external use.

Patch fittings that appear to blend into the glass.

The DORMA family of patch fittings for the construction of internal and external toughened glass assemblies has a new addition.

Called Arcos, the range of fittings is available in satin or polished stainless steel and brushed aluminium and features a convex curved design.

This profile has an interesting effect on light and reflection, giving the impression that the fitting blends into the glass.

Arcos is based on a modular system, consisting of a base unit, functional inserts and clip-on covers for a glass thickness of 8mm, 10mm and 12mm as standard and 15mm or 19mm on request.

The ARCOS patch fitting range extends to rails, hinges, locks, levers and includes a gracefully curved pull handle.

Movable walls make the most of office space.

DORMA Huppe Movable Wall systems offer a high degree of quality, functionality and diversity for the partitioning and interior design sector.

Their attractive appearance and reliable operating technology combine to offer a space maximization solution for practically any application.

From movable sound-insulation partitions for large conference areas, meeting and training rooms to sliding glass panel walls which allow complete flexibility of design within the office environment.

Probably the neatest automatic sliding door operator around.

The new DORMA Compact Slide automatic sliding door operator, at around one-quarter the size of comparable operators, is arguably the neatest, most attractive sliding door operator ever designed.

It does not compromise on performance, reliability or safety - but measures just 100 mm x 100 mm in cross-section.

As a result, it is almost invisible and allows automatic doors to be fitted where previous design restrictions might have made this difficult.

A unique cam-action door closer.

Unlike conventional rack and pinion closers, the unique DORMA TS93 cam-action closer has a linear drive mechanism and heart shaped cam.

This means that when the door is opened the opening force falls away rapidly after the first few degrees resulting in little resistance throughout the opening cycle - and the same happens on closing.

The result is a much easier and safer door operation for children, the elderly and particularly for people with physical disabilities.

The concealed cam-action door closer.

For those prestigious applications where aesthetic integrity is paramount, the DORMA ITS96 closer offers all the benefits of the unique cam-action closer, but has the added advantage of being concealed in the door leaf and frame on doors of 45mm thickness or more - making it practically invisible.

Door closers chameleon style.

The new range of Cover Options for DORMA'S Door Closer Range makes it possible to integrate the closers with practically any interior design scheme and create a fully co-ordinated look throughout the building - and for refurbishment projects, existing door closers can be updated to match the new styling.

Rack and pinion closers are available in three different cover options and a whole new range of finishes and colours, while the unique DORMA cam-action range has two cover options and a similarly wide-ranging choice of new colours and finishes.
