Grand Heritage Hotels International choose high specification DORMA door hardware.

Grand Heritage Hotels International is a select group of hotels situated throughout Europe and the USA, claiming a rich history, luxurious surroundings and exceptional service for all of its locations Many select hotel groups are prone to making such claims but with Cliveden, the former home of Waldorf and Lady Astor, as part of their property portfolio you feel that Grand Heritage Hotels might well have a point

Two luxury UK hotels within the group, Pennyhill Park near Bagshot and South Lodge, near Horsham, have recently undergone major extension work and the high specification DORMA door hardware required throughout the projects has been supplied by specialist architectural ironmongers JO Millar Partners (London).

Over 100 DORMA closers fitted at Pennyhill Park Three different types of DORMA door closers, over 100 in total, have been specified and fitted throughout this hotel and country club, predominantly on the main circulation routes.

Pennyhill Park was originally a mid 19th century Manor House and sits in 120 acres of Surrey countryside.

It has 123 individually designed luxury en suite bedrooms and a host of sports and leisure facilities, including a luxurious spa with marble hallways, spacious treatment rooms, steam rooms and herbal saunas.

In fact the England rugby team use it as their base, but there is no risk of injury from running into them in the mixed steam room as the team maintains its own restricted areas.

The three types of closers used at Pennyhill Park are the DORMA ITS 96, the ITS 96 with EMF units and TS 93's.

The ITS 96 is a concealed cam-action door closer, being the first closer of its kind designed to be integrated into the door leaf and frame on doors of 45mm thickness or more, making it ideal in helping to maintain the overall elegance of the interior.

The ITS 96 has set new standards not just for its discreet design, but also for its unique action.

Unlike conventional rack and pinion closers, the cam-action has a linear drive mechanism and heart-shaped cam.

This means that the resistance encountered when opening the door decreases almost instantly, yet still guarantees secure closing - making it ideal for use by people with disabilities, the elderly and young children.

A feature that also helps Pennyhill Park comply with the Disability Discrimination Act.

The concealed ITS 96 can be fitted with EMF units if required.

These are electro-magnetic hold-open devices that enable the door to remain open securely at a pre-selected position without fall-back, the hold-open point being adjustable within an opening angle of approx.

80deg to 120deg.

In the event of an alarm or a fault in the power supply, the hold-open is released and the door is shut by the closer mechanism.

The third type of closer used is the TS 93, which has also been used extensively at Pennyhill Park's sister hotel, South Lodge.

New function rooms for South Lodge DORMA TS 93 and TS 92 door closers have been fitted throughout a new extension to South Lodge Hotel.

It is a magnificent Victorian Country House set in 93 acres of gardens and parkland in an elevated position overlooking the South Downs.

Although it has recently been extended to incorporate large new function rooms, the hotel has managed to maintain its charm, with great care being taken to keep the traditional feel throughout, with open fires, wood panelled rooms and leather sofas and chairs.

All doors throughout the new function rooms have been fitted with DORMA door closers.

The TS 93 and TS92 which use the same cam-action technology as the ITS 96 closers fitted at Pennyhill Park (and which can be also be supplied with electro-magnetic hold-open devices) has proved to be an outstanding success for DORMA.

They comprise a slide channel arm modular system, which enables just a few door closer models to be combined with a variety of different slide channel finishes to meet virtually every conceivable requirement.

This 'chameleon' capability allows both models to blend in discretely with the general décor at South Lodge.
