A DORMA product to suit virtually any glass structure DORMA UK's Glass Division has built a reputation over many years as the pioneers of innovative fittings for use with toughened glass doors and partitions The Glass product range has grown to a vast extent, incorporating structural glazing systems, toughened glass architecture, movable walls, sliding door systems, toilet cubicles and shower screens, which means that there is a product to suit virtually any glass structure

The products can be brought together to offer true transparent architecture, with external and internal fittings complementing each other beautifully.

The range is split into four main areas: Fittings Incorporates rails, patch fittings, Manet locks and profiles.

This product type is suited to internal/external entrances and partitioning where performance and design are key to the project.

Structural A product group that combines precision engineering with minimalist design for applications where load-bearing will occur, such as canopies, façades, atriums and glass cladding.

Cubicles.

A range of cubicles to suit either showers or WC's.

Glass is used in conjunction with aluminium profiles to create standard or bespoke layouts and the glass and profiles can be coloured to any RAL finish.

The obvious benefits are hygiene, performance and aesthetics.

HSW Horizontal Sliding Walls are the ideal solution for enticing customers into a shop or café.

The system utilises a sliding system of panels which stack away via a track, which means the whole shopfront can be opened up.

However, if security is an issue then the system allows for standard entry via pivoting doors.

Here we take a look at just what DORMA has to offer.

MANET Construct new to the UK.

Aesthetics and functionality come together beautifully with the new MANET Construct system, winner of the coveted international 'red dot' design award in 2002 for building components in Germany.

The system makes it possible to connect glass-to-glass, or glass-to-building structure when meeting the demanding requirements of structural glazing systems used in the construction of external and internal walls, façades and roofs.

A major feature of the range is the MANET Spider, a fascinating design element that enhances any façade.

It has a highly polished stainless steel finish and is available in one to four arm variants.

Whether in straight line, segmented or circular configurations with curved glazing, the MANET Construct Spider improves both design and connection safety.

The articulated joint with its three dimensional movement in the Spider hub helps compensate for any building tolerances in the substructure by absorbing the load at all the fixing points, while the resilient single-point fixings compensate for thermal expansion and glass panel deformation.

The key to the system is the single-point fixing (available in two sizes) which controls the transmission of tensile and compressive forces to the substructure.

The single-point fixing features an interfacial elastomer pad which dissipates stresses in the glass due to deformation and ensures optimum stress distribution under critical loading in the fixing area - as a result, large glass spans can be achieved.

RODAN - two elements, one design.

Alternatively DORMA can create structural glazing sytems using their RODAN system.

The combination of RODAN tie rods and clamp mountings result in a system offering outstanding integrity combined with aesthetic transparency.

The key elements in the RODAN tie system are round-section rods and fork end pieces, supplemented by circular hubs and couplers.

They offer the designer practically unlimited scope and by utilising these few components it is possible to create simple tie rod connections through to complex cross-bracing networks.

Where several tie rods have to be linked to a central point, up to eight fork end pieces can be connected using the circular hub.

This is an ideal solution for cross-bracing systems or pyramid-shaped roofs with horizontal trusses.

With RODAN glass clamp mountings, each unit is tailored to its project-specific task.

The system offers clamping disk variants, including articulated countersunk mountings for all the visual advantages of a flush-mounted system and integrally welded sleeves through to conventional bolting systems with nuts and washers for connection to the substructure.

Ball joint connections offer lateral flexibility and load limitation at the fixing points, particularly important when large dimension glass panels are being used.

A range has also been developed specifically for trussed systems using a ball joint and welded eye lug.

The eye-lug constituting a solid and visually elegant mounting for the tie elements.

DORMA have entered into a partnership arrangement with Casu Consulto, who will act as DORMA's preferred installer offering a full specification, design and installation service.

MANET - limitless possibilities for toughened glass architecture The MANET system is a comprehensive range of totally compatible, matching stainless steel components that enable the interconnection of different glass elements, or the fixing of those elements, to walls, ceilings and floors.

The system enables sophisticated concepts to be designed using large areas of smooth, flat glass.

There are four main elements to the system:.

* MANET single-point fixings.

These fixings guarantee the precise and simple fixing of glass elements.

Without squeezing the glass itself, they safely transfer all forces acting on the glass to the load-bearing structure.

Their three-dimensional adjustment capabilities allow problem-free fixing to uneven walls as well.

Countersunk holes ensure flush-fitting with the wall system and plastic gaskets protect the glass from direct contact with the stainless steel fitting.

* MANET fixing components.

The key fixing components are floor fixings; ceiling fixings; pivoting glass clamps; pivoting wall clamps; glass corner connectors and connecting rods available in various lengths.

Glass partitions can be connected to each other, or to floors, walls and ceilings, at almost any angle - and any wayward structural tolerances can easily be accommodated by the slots in the connecting rods.

* MANET sliding door system.

The modified flush-fitting, single-point fixing is the key component of the MANET sliding door system, combined with an almost inaudible track and roller arrangement.

A recent system development, MANET Neu, has seen new designs introduced for the sliding and pivoting door systems.

A new roller fitting for sliding doors offers a softer design and an enhanced pivoting system.

Sliding doors fitted with the MANET system can be fixed in glass partition wall assemblies and wall openings.

Accurately positioned end stops on the track safely limit the movement of the doors.

* MANET pivoting door system.

The combination of a visible centre pivot extending up the entire length of the door, along with top and bottom pivot fixings enable frameless pivoting doors to be installed in wall openings and glass partition wall assemblies with single-point fixings.

The MANET pivoting door system is equally suitable for double-action or single action doors and both types can be fitted with floor springs.

HSW offers real flexibility to shops and restaurants The HSW horizontal sliding wall system offers enormous flexibility to restaurants, bars and shops, allowing the introduction of moveable entrances, internal partitions and display windows, The HSW system is available in a range of variants with either framed or unframed panels and virtually any shade and colour combination is possible, so the system can be integrated into the total façade and interior design solution.

There are no floor channels or guides, so there are no breaks in the flooring material and no dirt traps or underfoot obstacles.

Any, or all, of the sliding panels can be equipped to act as single or double action swing doors and when the system is opened, the doors and panels are stacked in parking bays.

The new AGILE 150 glass sliding door system.

The AGILE 150 clamp fit roller carrier is a sleek new addition to DORMA's range of glass sliding door systems and is both discrete and functional.

In order to preserve the aesthetic value of the glass panels, the clamp fittings together with the roller assembly are concealed in a compact aluminium track system, the design and dimensions of which - with a mounting height of just 63mm - make it almost inconspicuous.

As for functionality, the AGILE 150 clamp fit roller means that no glass preparation is required.

Two maintenance-free clamp carriers can support glass of up to 150kg in weight (or 200kg on request) with no machining or drilling required.

Cristallo for the public sanitation sector Manufactured by GRAL in Germany, a wholly owned subsidiary of DORMA, the Cristallo range of sanitary partitions utilises toughened glass as a modular system material.

Coloured glass finishes and coated aluminium are combined to provide an attractive option for the public sanitation sector, areas which can often be dreary and unimaginative.

The toughened glass is hygienic, water-resistant, easy to clean and resistant to vandalism.

There are three product variants in the Cristallo range, each mutually compatible and available in both linear and curved configurations.

Their modular structure makes them suitable for a wide range of applications - as partitions or wall claddings, washstand units, changing cubicles or urinals - and their integrated appearance is further enhanced by a wide range of matching accessories, including vanity units.

DORMA have a partnership with Helmsman, who offer an installation service and have vast experience in the washroom market.
