A Downwell Demolition product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jan 27, 2010

Downwell Demolition has completed the safe and controlled demolition of an unsafe building at Kemsley Paper Mill in Kent.

The condemned building had suffered from severe corrosion and Downwell Demolition was called upon at short notice to dismantle the structure in two stages.

Initial undertakings involved supporting the building's crumbling walls and removing its rotten roof.

Once stable, valuable industrial machinery located on the ground floor was removed and the remainder of the building demolished.

Throughout the project Downwell Demolition used a range of specialist cutting and access equipment to dismantle the structure in a safe and controlled manner.

Despite the close proximity of the paper mill's onsite power station and numerous live utility pipes and cables, Downwell Demolition was able to successfully complete the project.
