D R Services specialises in the design, supply and installation of frameless glass systems and fittings and has produced a new CD which details its services.
Fabricated in line with the design brief of Tuke Manton Architects, the canopy was erected in cooperation with Russell Cawberry, the main contractor responsible for refurbishing this and other buildings on the Ealing site.
Antony Dillon, contracts manager for Russell Cawberry recounts: "This was a complete refurbishment of the entrance to John Conolly Wing at St Bernard's hospital".
"It involved installing new revolving doors, glass screens, new flooring and desking as well as the canopy that D R Services supplied".
"The installation of the canopy was completed without any problems".
Spanning the two metre width of the entrance doors, the canopy is formed from a single piece of toughened laminated glass carried by two sets of D R Services' adjustable rod systems.
The top console is fixed to the masonry using conventional anchors while countersunk bolts hold the glass to the bottom console.
The simple unobtrusive lines of such canopies has led to D R Services supplying them for a wide variety of projects including hotels, shopping centres and education establishments.
The company can offer a variety of glazing specifications and can extend the run of glass to protect the entire length of an elevation, as might be appropriate for a sports pavilion or restaurant.
