DR-y Glaze from D R Services has now been given an extra style dimension through the introduction of a specially developed drop threshold.

This means that the frameless, seamless appearance offered by the Dry Fix System, where the glass panels fit directly into the walls and floor, is enhanced by avoiding the need for unsightly entrance steps or profiles which detract from the finished aesthetics and which can impede access The development also means users of the bathroom and those responsible for property maintenance are relieved of the age old problem of leaks around the corners of shower doors

Technical Director, Julie Jarvis says: "Historically shower enclosures have gone against the laws of physics and relied on sealants to contain the water.

Quite simply what we have done is ensured the glass and tray are drained to the wet side wherever water can reach.

The difference with the shaping of the threshold is that the wet side of the glass is on a lowered and sloping section of the tray, and where the seal parks against is beneath the highest level.

"There were a number of drivers behind our developing this new threshold.

While in the first instance it will allow clients and constructors to get as close to their ideals as possible, they can do so while complying with the Disability Discrimination Act as well as Health and Safety, while offering practical water-tightness".

Not only is it possible to fit the door so it opens outwards, enabling a collapsed person to be given assistance even in smaller showering enclosures, but the hinge is also of a unique design.

It features an oval shaped lug and spring loading so that it will park at 0, 90 or 180 degrees while from five to 90 degrees it will self close to prevent the bathroom floor being flooded if someone leaves the door open and the shower running.

Supplied in conjunction with coloured or reconstructed stone shower trays measuring up to 2000 x 900 mm, the D R Services design solution enables glass panels to be directly glazed into a recessed metal wall channel without any seals being visible.

In addition to being available in a range of pastel colours, the shower trays can also be produced in virtually any variety of stone finish, with ground natural stone being incorporated into the gel coat.

Special shapes and sizes can also be produced.

D R Services is also able to supply factory moulded plinths with accurate falls for the creation of wet room areas, and 6 mm thick wall cladding panels in matching materials.
