Dudley refurbishment of Tesco Extra at Sandhurst
Specialist contractor Dudley has completed a refurbishment project for long standing client Tesco at the highest earning store in Sandhurst, Surrey.
The multi million pound project comprises a mezzanine floor accommodating an extended range of non-food products.
Further floor space was required due to the store's success since its opening 3 years ago.
The work also includes new customer toilets, a new customer service desk and staff areas.
The transformation into a two floor trading store at Merthyr is the first project carried out by Dudley's for Tesco to use a lightweight mezzanine system.
The new system requires reduced foundation works and is therefore quicker and easier to erect.
Disruption to trading was minimal and the store continued to operate 24 hours a day during the construction period with the majority of work being carried out at night.
The completed project at Merthyr follows on from work at Tesco Extra in Bridgend and Cardiff stores including Western Avenue and Pengam Green.
Mike Dudley, managing director, Dudley's said, "This has been another successful year for our relationship with Tecso, which spans more than 35 years".
"Our knowledge and experience of how to work in store whilst minimizing disruption to the sales floor is extensive and we look forward to the completion of further sites during 2007.".
