The Dulas ethical building ethos
DTI have chosen Dulas to install small scale renewable energy solutions into schools, hospitals and other public sector buildings.
Dulas , the Machynlleth-based renewable energy company today announced a victory for the UK's renewable energy industry.
As part of the UK Governments Low Carbon Buildings Programme, the DTI have chosen Dulas to install small scale renewable energy solutions into schools, hospitals and other public sector buildings.
To win the contract Dulas formed an experienced consortium of microgeneration installation companies including experts in solar photovoltaics, solar thermal and small-scale wind generators, who will specify and install the technologies appropriate to public buildings, all grant funded through the GBP50m DTI Low Carbon Buildings Programme.
Queen's Award Winner, Dulas , will now be listed with only 2 other providers, per technology, for installation under the new GBP50m capital grant stream.
Focussing on the education sector, particularly schools.
The grants will cover the whole of the UK.
Other eligible organisations include local housing authorities, housing associations, libraries, other public sector buildings and charitable bodies.
Despite facing the tough competition from UK utility companies and construction giants in the tendering process, the consortium of smaller, established businesses emerged victorious in the tender.
With nearly 100 years combined experience in renewables they include the award-winning Sundog Energy and Sustainable Energy Installations.
They now face the exciting prospect of supplying and installing solar and wind technologies for the DTI over the next two years.
Celebrating Dulas' success, Jonathan Andrews, Head of UK Sales and Operations at Dulas , commented, "With all the years of combined microgeneration experience and thousands of satisfied customers we can offer clients unbiased 'Expert' advice on the most effective solutions today".
The DTI announcement follows on from a wave of Government action relating to the environment.
The Government's Climate Change Bill and the recently published Stern Report all focus on the actions required to tackle the onset of climate change.
Ian Draisey, Marketing Director at Dulas added "This opportunity places Dulas at the forefront of the UK Renewable Energy and Microgeneration markets".
"This DTI framework contract will help us to continue to grow, but also to educate the next generation through quality installations of small scale renewables in schools".
