Corian a la Modo

Liverpool's refurbished Modo Bar recently won the Pub Design of Year Award from the Publican newspaper and was named Best Bar in the North West by Theme magazine.

Corian, the original solid surface material from DuPont, plays a major part in Modo's new design scheme, as interior/exterior cladding and signage.

Designed by Union North of Liverpool, Modo has a fresh and modern look, while also being comfortable and welcoming.

At the heart of the city in Concert Square, the bar also makes use of a spacious outdoor terrace.

Corian has been used to line the interior walls and this sleek effect continues outside where the material also clads the dramatic canopy and the Modo sign, which stands proud as individual, 3-D lettering.

Says Modo's manager Craig Mathewson (himself an award winner as Best New Licensee), "we are delighted with the CorianR cladding, it really works fantastically well.

It means we have a bar we'll never have to re-paint.

All it takes is a wipe over and the walls look fresh and new! The customers have shown a real interest as well, as it's so tactile.

We've started to call it the Corian Stroking Phenomenon!" Craig sees a direct link between Modo's re-design and an increase in turnover by about 35%.

He has high hopes for continued success especially now that Liverpool has been named European City of Culture for 2007, by which time, and beyond, the Corian cladding will still be looking great! Corian is the original solid surface made only by DuPont.
