Durapipe UK introduces Straub Plast-Grip and Straub Combi-Grip, two stainless steel mechanical couplings offering problem-solving jointing options to connect various pipe materials quickly and reliabl

Plast-Grip facilitates the connection of plastic to plastic whilst Combi-Grip can address the jointing needs between plastic and metal Offering quick fix solutions, Straub mechanical jointing methods can meet the time constraints of today's fast track projects

The fittings can be installed in all weather conditions and even enable replacement of damaged or faulty pipe in live lines without costly implications.

Both mechanical couplings can be used on Durapipe ABS and PVC pipes and offer full end load capability.

The two options operate to 16 bar with sizes from 40mm to 160mm and a temperature range between -30 degrees C and +100 degrees C.

Straub mechanical fittings use progressive sealing technology to establish a high quality seal rather than conventional compression methods.

This ensures that the gasket is not simply pressed against the pipe surface as a static compression seal but remains responsive to pressures from the medium being conveyed by the pipework, allowing it to flow into recesses within the gasket and provide a seal appropriate to the rating capabilities of the pipe.

The compact gasket design of the Straub Plast-Grip and Combi-Grip can meet space saving installation requirements, using 30% less space compared to flanges.

Furthermore, with the elimination of any welding, flanging or pipe end preparation, installation can be implemented in a significantly reduced time period to comparable methods as there are only two bolts to tighten per coupling, and only using a torque wrench.

The flexibility of the design also accommodates misalignment and angular deflection - up to five degrees dependent upon the model and size.

Durapipe UK's stainless steel Straub fittings are fully corrosion resistant and absorb any noise or vibration.

To spread pipe wear evenly, pipes can be rotated at a later date as bolts are designed are designed to be easily loosened as required.

The couplings are suitable to connect pipe in a wide range of applications regardless of wall thickness.

Applications include water and power generation, machinery and construction and industrial process as well as surface and underground engineering.
