A range of pipe and fittings from Durapipe UK has been used within an expansion of Autoglym Limited's manufacturing factory in Letchworth, Hertfordshire Autoglym Limited, a leading manufacturer of car care products, has recently constructed a new production plant at its Letchworth site, to increase productivity

As part of the project, the company required a pipework system suitable for conveying a range of chemicals that are mixed together to produce its products.

After careful consideration, Durapipe PVC-U pipework and valves were selected and installed.

A competitor product had originally been specified but distributors, Brimair Engineering Services Limited of Letchworth and particularly sales director Tim Sellicks, demonstrated the excellent performance and product quality benefits that Durapipe UK could offer to the client.

As a result, Brimair has supplied Durapipe PVC-U pipe in sizes ranging up to 2".

In addition, due to the automated nature of the production process, Durapipe UK was chosen to supply a number of actuated valves to achieve production requirements.

Autoglym Limited required a pipework system, which could safely transport the various chemicals needed in multiple production processes.

Durapipe PVC-U's excellent chemical resistance properties has seen it become a well established product for conveying process chemicals and industrial fluids, making it the ideal choice for the new plant.

Durapipe PVC-U allows the safe transportation of many acids, alkalis and chemical concentrates, without the fear of corrosion or environmental pollution.

As a company with exacting standards and quality awards, Autoglym Limited required a manufacturing environment, in which clients could view the production process and so pipework product quality and traceability was a prerequisite, which is another reason Brimair turned to the services of Durapipe UK.

Durapipe PVC-U also offered Autoglym Limited immediate benefits during the installation process.

The lightweight material of the product means it is considerably easier to handle on site compared with alternative materials and combined with its ability to be solvent welded, can significantly reduce labour time and costs.

Commenting on the project, Tim Sellicks said: "I have supplied and distributed Durapipe UK products for several years and have always been extremely impressed with the results.

Given the customer and exacting requirements of this project, I converted Autoglym Limited to Durapipe PVC-U, its excellent chemical resistance properties were imperative to the successful running of the production plant and so Durapipe PVC-U pipe, fittings and valves were installed for all pipework requirements, to ensure consistency throughout the factory".

"Durapipe UK can also back up its products by providing excellent technical support, with staff who have considerable experience of thermoplastic piping systems and who are on hand to give advice from the installation stage through to the aftercare and maintenance of the pipework".
