Friatherm Extends With Larger Sizes
Two new larger sizes have been added to the Friatherm hot and cold water system.
However, the last twelve months has been exceptional, with sales increasing by more than 50%, compared with like for like years.
The high performance plastic pipework manufacturer has attributed this growth to a range of factors including the growth of PFI healthcare developments, but mainly the effect of the continued copper price increases.
The price of copper has risen dramatically since November 2001 and means that the difference in material cost between traditional options and more innovative alternatives such as plastic is now minimal.
As a result, Durapipe UK has seen year on year growth for its Friatherm brand, as increasingly more contractors and specifiers are turning to plastic materials due to the overall reduced installation cost.
The labour costs associated with Friatherm are significantly less than copper due to its lightweight properties allowing for ease of handling on site and its quick and simple jointing technique, which reduces installation time helping contractors keep to strict budgets and deadlines.
Martyn Rowlands from Durapipe UK said: "Durapipe UK has experienced a fantastic twelve months, particularly for the Friatherm brand, which is a testament to the strength of the product in the marketplace".
"The steel and copper price hikes continue to have a massive effect on the industry and we are seeing more and more specifiers and contractors that have only ever used traditional materials now being converted to plastics, as they recognise the benefits in terms of quick and easy installation, without compromising on product performance ".
"With even more copper price increases in the first quarter of this year, this trend is set to continue as contractors and specifiers seek out more cost effective options.".
