Friaphon hits the right note at the opera

A Durapipe UK product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Feb 26, 2008

Friaphon, the sound attenuated drainage system from Durapipe UK, has been specified for a private opera house.

However this particular home to sopranos and divas is not in London, Rome or Sidney, but in owner Martin Graham's back garden in the Cotswolds.

Originally a barn, Longborough Festival Opera was converted into a 480-seater theatre which hosts 20 opera performances every summer.

Friaphon was specified to minimise any noise from the building's drainage system, to ensure the only thing opera enthusiasts hear is the performance.

Friaphon pipework is produced with dual layer technology, which provides superb sound insulation without the need for lagging, which saves time and money on site.

Furthermore, Friaphon is lightweight with a wide temperature range and ease of assembly.

Mitchell Holmes, Marketing Manager, Durapipe UK, said: "This is an excellent example of the wide range of projects our pipework can be used for".

"Friaphon is the perfect solution to reduce noise from drainage systems and we're delighted it is helping enhance the experience of opera fans." Martin Graham, Owner, Longborough Festival Opera, said: "The last thing people want to hear in a theatre is noise from the drainage system".

"Friaphon assures that the audience only hears Wagner's ring cycle, and not the flush cycle".
