Eden Hotels enlisted the help of NH Interiors to redesign the existing hotel by reducing the number of bedrooms, and remodeling the communal areas including The Waterside Brasserie restaurant.

The aim was to design the standard of hotel interior that is required to achieve four star accreditation and offer elegance and sophistication while at the same time meeting budget requirements.

Pro City Contracts was instructed to carry out the painting and decorating work throughout the hotel, which included painting the walls, ceilings, woodwork and bathrooms, and the many exterior surfaces.

As a long standing customer of Dulux Decorator Centres, Andy Leitch company director, turned to the Coventry Binley store to source all of the paints and materials required, and the staff knowledge needed to obtain advice on the best products for the project.

The team at Pro City Contracts also made use of the delivery service offered by Dulux Decorator Centres to have some of the products supplied directly to the hotel to save time, maximise efficiency and reduce costs.

With the help of Mark Aldridge, account manager, Dulux Decorator Centres, Pro City Contracts was able to source the required colours and finishes needed to fulfill the brief.

Mark advised on the Dulux Trade Heritage range which contains colours that could be used to match the hotel's overall theme and ambience.

Mark also advised that the team used Dulux Trade matt paints for many of the interior surfaces to ensure a hard wearing finish that will stand up to the rigours of hotel life, and maintain a quality finish for years to come.

Following the introduction of the VOC 2010 legislation, which established new, stricter limits on the maximum amount of VOCs that can be contained in decorative paints, stains and varnishes, Mark was able to offer Pro City Contracts advice on the best paints to use to ensure compliance.

With many of the products that painters and decorators are familiar with using, being banned by the legislation, Mark was able to advise on the new paints available from both the specialist Dulux 2010 VOC complaint range of paints, and other water based alternatives, that could be used to satisfy the new requirements while achieving the finish needed to complete the brief.
