Dupont Tyvek has reported that its UV Facade product has been specified for use by Curiousarchitecture on a granite-clad facade on an extension at the Malmaison hotel in Aberdeen.

UV Facade is said to provide greater freedom to design open-jointed rainscreen cladding that will withstand long-term UV and weather exposure.

Kenny Stephen, project architect at Curiousarchitecture, said: 'As Aberdeen is a city mainly built from granite it was a planning requirement that we used granite cladding on the new extension.

'Because it was a rainscreen system, it was important we chose a reliable product that could also deal with exposure to UV light.

DuPont Tyvek UV Facade bears the CE mark in accordance with EN 13859-2.

After an extensive development and rigorous testing process (including 5,000 hours of simulated permanent exposure to UV radiation), Dupont Tyvek UV Facade was found to be capable of protecting the insulation and the structure behind open-jointed cladding for a long time.

Dupont offers a 10-year functional guarantee for the product, provided the installation is in accordance with the conditions of the technical data sheet.
