DuPont membrane increases thermal efficiency

A DuPont Tyvek product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Sep 7, 2009

DuPont Tyvek's Reflex metallised breather membrane has been installed at the NUD2 development in Northampton by Barratt Northampton.

The project features green building technology, including solar panels on the roof.

DuPont Tyvek's Reflex membrane was installed between the timber frame and the external terracotta cladding.

The membrane prevents air leakage and moisture ingress, while allowing for vapour diffusion.

It also offers low-emmissivity against radiant heat loss.

The Reflex membrane is designed to protect the building envelope and work together with insulation to enhance thermal efficiency.

This material of the membrane blocks up to 85 per cent of radiant heat in summer, helping to optimise interior comfort levels.
