Through use of the new in2 no-dig pipe replacement service, Dyno-Rod has provided a local authority with major time and money savings when replacing damaged sewerage pipes In comparison with using conventional 'cured-in-place' (CIPP) replacement pipes, the in2 system took two hours to install compared with over six hours

The replacement of seven metres of four inch diameter pitch fibre sewerage pipe was required as the pipe had collapsed as a result of structural defects caused by ground movement, pipework deterioration and subsidence of the sewer.

Traditionally local authorities have used contractors to provide a 'cured-in-place' (CIPP) replacement pipe system when there had been similar occurrences.

Whilst this approach has benefited in terms of its versatility, the installation process comes with a high degree of risk, being very dependent on the precision applied by the installation crews.

CIPPs also use chemicals which are potentially dangerous and are mixed on site.

Dyno-Rod was approached to provide an alternative approach using the new in2 system.

This new system allows a drain to be totally replaced with a new durable factory produced plastic pipe without the need for excavation.

For a seven metre pipe replacement, only one single point of access, was available through a manhole.

The installation of the in2 pipe took just one hour and in total, including site preparation and post installation re-instatement, the whole job took just two hours.

The comparative time of the CIPP process would have been around six hours and therefore significant savings in time and cost were made.

There were added convenience and health/safety benefits.

The in2 system is now being used for many replacement projects.

Pitch fibre pipes are a particular issue with many local authorities and in2 provides a valid method of replacement for much of this work.
