Dyno-Rod service to clear flooded basements

A Dyno-Rod product story

Edgetime provides specialist Dyno-rod Service to clear flooded basement area.

When a former five storey department store in the centre of Leeds was gutted prior to redevelopment, the construction company involved got more than they bargained for and called in Dyno-Rod, the UK market leader in emergency drain services, for urgent assistance.

On examination of two further storeys below ground level, a major problem emerged.

This area had been dug out some 100 years ago and included a 2 metre wide by 120m metre long passage-way, which had been designed as a heat shaft.

This was completely flooded and the contractors initially thought it was an underground canal.

Edgetime, the local Dyno-Rod representatives, were called in and identified the cause of the flooding to be the ingress of rainwater.

Using CCTV equipment to assess the scale of the problem, gas detectors, breathing apparatus, extra emergency lighting and winches, Edgetime engineers were able to pump out all the water in just two of days.

The contractor was then able to complete the demolition of the inside of the store to make way for a new shopping centre.

Sean Lewis of Edgetime commented: "We have used our CCTV equipment on many occasions but never in a tunnel this long and with so much water that it was thought to be a canal".

"Luckily with the expertise of the Dyno engineers and the equipment available we were able to complete the job with minimum disruption and delay".

Dyno-Rod provides an extensive range of specialist services for types of commercial and industrial premises and all engineers are fully qualified to deal with every drainage problem.

CCTV can detect structural faults and other problems leading to the fast implementation of the most appropriate course of remedial action.
