DrainCare maintenance can cure seasonal problems

A Dyno-Rod product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Aug 25, 2006

DrainCare programme from Dyno-Rod is aimed at the commercial, industrial, food processing, hotel/catering, education and healthcare sectors amongst others.

Blockages in drains can occur for a variety of reasons.

During the drier summer months structural intrusion from tree roots can be a particular problem as they search out sources of water.

As Autumn approaches further problems can occur as a result of debris caused by falling leaves.

Simply clearing the blockage may provide an immediate solution but this is often not enough as the basic cause still remains.

Through its DrainCare programme, however, Dyno-Rod is able to offer prevention rather than just an immediate cure.

DrainCare is aimed at the commercial, industrial, food processing, hotel/catering, education and healthcare sectors amongst others.

Research carried out by Dyno-Rod estimates that emergency call-outs and downtime caused by drain blockages can cost major organisations as much as £100,000 per annum whilst a DrainCare preventative maintenance programme could typically cost between just £5,000-£15,000.

DrainCare has been conceived as a comprehensive drain maintenance solution and draws from a range of preventative maintenance services to create tailor-made packages.

Included are regular drain checking and cleaning visits, deep cleaning, regular CCTV drain surveys and the creation of drain layout plans.

Deep cleaning removes dirt and tough, hardened scale and restores the drain to its original bore and condition.

Regular drain cleaning visits - the frequency of which is determined on an individual basis - ensure the drainage system is kept clean and free-flowing.

The option of a drain layout plan - a map to enable the precise location and function of site drainage - and regular CCTV inspections to keep a check on a drain's structural conditions are also available.

Furthermore, if an emergency should occur, a free priority call-out service is also provided.

Few incidents have the potential to be more expensive and embarrassing than a blocked drain.

For companies in the manufacturing industry, a blocked drain can result in highly costly downtime as business grinds to a halt.

For corporate offices, blocked drains are highly embarrassing and potentially disruptive.

For the hotel and catering industry unpleasant odours and a risk of flooding cannot be contemplated.

Companies also need to be aware of the Environmental Pollution section of the Water Resources Act 1991, Section 85, which states 'A person contravenes this section if he causes any trade effluent or sewage effluent to be discharged from a building or from any fixed plant on to or into any land into any controlled waters, or a lake or pond'.

There is a maximum fine £20,000 and/or three months in prison.
