When Dyno-Rod franchise JK Services (Scotland) were carrying out a CCTV drain survey on the future site of a Primark store at the Rivergate Shopping Centre in Irvine, the contents of the footage were a surprise to everyone An otter was the unexpected guest in the drainage system so the sighting was passed to Scottish National Heritage as the otter is a protected species under EU legislation

George Kerr of JK Services comments: "As drains are largely hidden from view, their inspection and diagnosis is important before any work is undertaken and in this case our discovery has helped to protect an otter family from danger".
Following consultations between Dyno-Rod and Scottish Water, the otter has now been left to roam freely between the drainage system and the open river - the water company having given assurances that no work was planned for this river stretch.
Dyno Rod CCTV surveys of drains, sewers and pipes provide an accurate and cost effective way to spot problems before excavation and remedial work is undertaken or to establish the state of drains as part of a pre - purchase survey.
The survey is a simple process but can save much time, cost and inconvenience at a later date.
Recorded footage is backed up by a survey report, with photographic evidence, for all concerned parties.
