Dyno-Rod solves the missing link with in2

A Dyno-Rod product story

Dyno-Rod in2 drain replacement technology and Localine drain lining system proved the ideal solution for groundworks contractor to replace missing drainage section.

Drain repair and replacement jobs come in all kinds for Dyno-Rod, the leading emergency drain repair organisation for commercial and domestic properties.

The company offers a wide range of solutions for the most unusual situations - including the recent installation of a section of drainage that had not been replaced after being removed to allow for the construction of a ground beam within a new commercial development.

In this instance, the company's in2 drain replacement technology and Localine drain lining system proved the ideal solution.

Machmade, the local Dyno-Rod franchisee was called in by the groundworks contractor to rectify the omission and replace the missing drainage section.

Initial probing with rods from the adjacent manholes confirmed there was a solid obstruction which a subsequent CCTV survey revealed to be sections of plywood used as shuttering.

Like all Dyno-Rod franchises, Machmade carries a variety of tools for cutting out the roots of trees from inside pipes.

However, the fact the run terminated at the timber presented an entirely different challenge and it was decided to employ the patented in2 drain replacement system.

This involves either winching or pushing new sections of pipe through an existing sewer, working from one end or both.

The Technical Manager for Machmade, Mark Hughson, takes up the account: "The building was a brand new five storey structure with both the ladies and the gent's toilets on the ground floor having their own manholes, but not connected to the one outside".

"There was just a 1.3 metre length of pipe from each and then the plywood, blocking off the ends".

Machmade decided to use the in2 equipment but, in this case, due to there being a bend immediately upstream of the manhole, had to dismantle the chamber to set up the equipment.

A hole was punched through the plywood using the special in2 jack with the driving head, into the space beneath the beam which was filled with pea gravel.

Sections of the in2 pipe were then screwed together and then jacked down the existing drain, bridging the gap and into the down stream section of the drain.

A Localine sleeve was then installed over the end of the in2 section sealing it to the down stream drain.

The job took several days to complete as the existing pipes had also been misaligned during the construction of the beam but the final outcome was a real success.

Dyno-Rod offers a nationwide service for the clearing, relining or replacement of faulty drains.

A full selection of systems is at their disposal including several No-Dig solutions such as in2 drain replacement and Localine.
