Dyno-Rod responds to insurance market
challenges

Dyno-Rod will be seen as the first choice for drainage repair for the insurance sector.

Significant progress has been made since the company became part of the Centrica Group in 2004; with major investments in management, infrastructure, customer service and products which meet the specific requirements of insurance industry One of the key areas of change has been the understanding of the Insurers needs

Centrica's six sigma process has mapped the insurer's requirements and systems have been designed accordingly.

This has also been addressed through initiatives such as intensive training programmes, improvements to network control and quality procedures, ISO 9001 performance audits, improved appointment procedures and effective job tracking.

Dyno-Rod has moved their head office to a modern 11,000 sq ft office block which incorporates its new enlarged 24 hour call centre.

The call centre which employs over 80 staff takes over 20,000 calls a week.

Centrica have invested heavily in new IT to support the new processes.

The company's new management system called Apollo has the facility to provide precise management information.

This includes the ability to track and monitor the progress of each claim with real time reporting supported by hand held PDA's with the engineers on site.

The system pro-actively alerts users of significant events throughout the life of the claim.

Electronic diary management, updates from on site engineers, computer generated controls based on insurer client's service level requirements and non conformance management are at the heart of the new system.

High reporting standards are now consistent throughout the network incorporating the latest Wincan digital stills, digital overview photographs, and computer generated plans.

Standardised schedule of rates are used with substantial reductions for volume Insurer clients.

Specific details and advice is given on the cause and extent of damage based on the Drainage Repair Book with justification for the most cost effective repair method to show significant savings to the insurer.

Analysis of the handling and management of each claim against agreed key performance indicators including monitoring of all communication and events allows complete claims tracking and transparent audit trails resulting in reduced claim life cycles.

Internally, the Dyno Insurance Claims Unit has been established to deal with all insurance related matters and the team features personnel with first hand loss adjusting experience and WRc training.

Dyno-Rod is currently in the process of obtaining WRc approval for their Insurance Claims handling process.

Independent external claim validation and audits are available from highly trained British Gas personnel.

One clear demonstration of the progress that has been made is reflected in the on-going success of the Pitch Fibre Protocol scheme.

Dyno-Rod is acting as main contractor for insurance companies and householders to address the problems being faced by the widespread failures of private sewers constructed of pitch fibre.

Dyno-Rod are actively involved in many highly successful schemes across England and Wales involving over 3000 properties to replace defective pipes, often using no-dig technology.

Much of the success to date has been led by Chris Cowen, the Insurance Services Manager for the Dyno Group.

With the company for just 18 months, his professional background in insurance and drainage industry has been invaluable.

He is now deeply involved with other significant initiatives throughout the business, including the growth of Dyno's plumbing and locks and secure areas within the insurance market.

From a technology viewpoint, Dyno-Rod's drain repair product offering has also significantly expanded.

New no-dig solutions offer major benefits to insurers as they can be implemented quickly with minimum disruptions and significant cost savings.

Dyno-Rod has a nationwide patent for pitch fibre re-round methods and equipment.

With "in2", (the only pipe with WRc approval) the company has a cutting edge and unique no-dig drain replacement solution.

With Brawoliner, a drain lining system that meets stringent WRc and Water Utility Company infiltration standards, Dyno-Rod has a unique ability to repair curved and sweeping stretches of small-bore drainage systems which often avoids expensive Road digs.

With the new flexi liner even internal drains around a 90 degree bend leading to the toilet can be repaired without the need for costly internal excavations.

All these initiatives, combined with Dyno-Rod's proven ability to interface with householders in a way no other drainage company can, with over 1000 vans and well over a hundred local offices, Dyno-Rod is your local Drain repairer with a truly national service.
