Sweet success for EC Harris
International consultancy EC Harris has won a prestigious contract to manage the transformation of the former Terry's chocolate factory in York.
Indeed the consultancy was named as number three in this year's list, up one from 2005.
The league table ranks the 250 biggest and most successful consultants in the UK and then breaks them down into top 100 surveyors, project managers, engineers and architects etc This is also the third year in a row that EC Harris has been confirmed as the country's number two surveyor and number four in project management.
News of the results come as EC Harris prepares to move in December from its current central London office in Lynton House, Tavistock Square, to a new building, to be named ECHQ in King's Cross.
The building is currently called Jahn Court.
Philip Youell, Group Chief Executive of EC Harris, said: "The results and forthcoming move to ECHQ reinforce that we, as a multi-disciplinary consultancy, are continuing to grow and demonstrate that we are moving closer to the exceptional performance standards we set for ourselves.
"It is particularly pleasing to see that our diverse experience and skills within all areas of our work has been recognised in these rankings from the industry's leading publication".
Building magazine's rankings are decided from data collected from the firms concerning: number of chartered, non-chartered and technical staff, domestic and worldwide fee incomes and fees per employee.
Other aspects such as the speed of invoice payment, staff recruitment, likely wage increases, margins, areas of work, e-business initiatives and IT expenditure are also taken into consideration.
The 66,000 square foot ECHQ, owned by LaSalle Investment, will support more than 700 people in EC Harris' London office and act as a global hub for the 40 wholly-owned offices that make up the firm's international network.
EC Harris will be the sole tenant.
