EC Harris is set to unveil its new London office, signalling a further evolution of the country's biggest multi-discipline built asset consultancy The traditional shape and style of surveying and project management firms has been challenged by EC Harris for more than a decade and the addition of specialists in client sectors and 15 built asset related disciplines provides a further evolution

After 50 years of occupation EC Harris will move the short distance to King's Cross's newest development, 'Regent's Quarter'.

An early mover to this regeneration area, EC Harris will be sole tenant of LaSalle Investments' 66,000 sq ft, four floor building originally developed by PandO Developments.

Speaking about the move Philip Youell, Chief Executive of EC Harris, said: "We selected the building and employed Swanke Hayden to help design and Overbury's to deliver the fit out of an environment that reflects the future of consultancy in our industry.

"The building was a natural choice for us and with the additions we have made it will support the sort of practices that allow us to develop exceptional people to serve leading clients.

"With more than 700 people working from this office and further 2,300 worldwide we have the critical mass in our 15 disciplines to combine disciplines to create value on complex business impacting challenges.

The London building will house our biggest teams of quantity and building surveyors together with project management, consultants, health and safety specialists, engineers, architects, facilities managers, software developers and specialists in the fourteen of our priority sectors.

The building supports the kind of interaction required to bring our professional disciplines and sector specialists together in a fluid and flexible way".

EC Harris has grown from 560 people to 3,000 over the last 10 years and expects to increase the headcount by more than one person per working day this year.

Youell expects the move to assist EC Harris in recruitment.

"The attraction of the industry's best is one of the challenges for all consultancies, particularly in London, and this has been an important factor in the designing of the fit out.

The facilities support a philosophy to achieve service excellence for clients balanced with the well being of our people.

"Our people tell us that they want to be developed through professional challenges and training and supported in their personal aspirations.

Our part in this is to create a working environment that allows people to be flexible in how they work and supports their lives.

The facilities include a flexible working cafe, showers, changing rooms, knowledge centres, social space, go anywhere IT and communication." Unusually EC Harris owns all of its non UK subsidiaries and the London office is the largest of 43 spread through Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and the UK, with one in Houston, Texas.

It is the global hub with all the other parts of the firm connected through a Group Board and Group Management Team also based in the London office.
