EC Harris' ground breaking work on St Pancras International Station has been shortlisted for MCA Management Awards.

EC Harris' ground breaking work on St Pancras International Station has been shortlisted for the Management Consultancies Association (MCA) Management Awards.

The nomination in the Operational Performance category is in recognition of the firm's work with London and Continental Railways (LCR) towards the delivery of the vision for St Pancras International Station to be 'a unique London landmark delivering the best performing transport destination experience in Europe through operational and service excellence'.

Mike Luddy, LCR Programme Director, said: "We were six months behind programme and EC Harris were brought onboard to help find a solution and incorporate it into our activities with immediate effect".

"EC Harris helped us structure our thinking and brought a disciplined approach to our project".

To deliver the vision LCR wanted to:.

* Align the programme team.

* Deliver a 'fit for purpose' approach and solution.

* Be proactive and deliver innovation fast.

* Deliver value for money for all stakeholders.

* Be seen as commercial.

* Deliver quality on time and on budget.

To develop the strategy framework EC Harris captured LCR's knowledge through one to one interviews, analysed the market, competitors and other stakeholders.

Underlying this was the creation of a benefits case built up by a joint EC Harris/LCR team to identify financial and non-financial implementation benefits.

EC Harris with LCR developed a strategy that moved the approach to St Pancras from that of an efficient transport hub to that of a 'destination', thereby differentiating it from the existing major London stations.

This will enable a more diverse range of users and customers to be attracted to St Pancras.

The key business orientated work streams on the programme were:.

* Vision and Strategy.

* Organisation Design.

* Benefits Case.

Jonathan Berney for EC Harris, said: "We also introduced a benefits-based financial accounting model for St Pancras".

"These calculations showed an incremental impact on revenue of GBP15.5m over three years".

"This allowed for further long-term enhancement of the station including increased branding and marketing budgets".

"We are currently projecting a fourfold revenue improvement versus other London stations and EC Harris can take a great deal of credit for getting us to this position" , added Mike Luddy.

EC Harris faces fierce competition from the Bourton Group, BT Global Professional Services, Deloitte, PA Consulting Group, PIPC UK and WCI Consulting, when the winner is announced at an exclusive dinner at London's Hilton on April 30.

These prestigious awards, launched in 1996, are organised by the MCA and run in association with Management Today - Britain's leading monthly business magazine.

They demonstrate the value of consultants' work by recognising successful client-consultancy partnerships across sectors and projects.

Case studies submitted for the 10 award categories are evaluated by a distinguished panel of judges.

Successful projects demonstrate effective partnerships between clients and management consultants: the solutions developed with the consultants and the benefits to the client organisation.

A platinum award will also be awarded on the evening to celebrate the best overall consultancy/client achievement.

There will also be special awards for Best Small Firm, Best Private Sector Project and Best Public Sector Project.
