Richard Saxon CBE joins EC Harris to work alongside its local government and education team.

Richard Saxon CBE, dubbed 'one of the foremost thinkers in the construction industry' by the chief of Constructing Excellence, has joined EC Harris to work alongside its local government and education team.

Richard, who is currently Vice-President of the RIBA and Chairman of the Practice Committee, became consultant client advisor to the firm on May 1.

Richard was awarded the CBE for 'services to architecture and construction', recognising his contribution to the modernisation of the industry through his work for the Construction Industry Board, Reading Construction Forum and 'Be: collaborating for the built environment'.

He led a task group, which produced 'Be Valuable, a guide to creating value in the built environment', published by Constructing Excellence in 2005 as it merged with Be.

Richard is a member of the Institute of Directors and the Chartered Management Institute and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts.

He is a former chairman (1996-2002) of multi-discipline giant Building Design Partnership of which he was a partner, later director, for 28 years until 2005.

He also helped to found the British Council for Offices in 1990, becoming its president in 1995-96.

Richard's own award-winning buildings include Halifax Building Society's HQ, JP Morgan's London HQ and the long-term masterplan for the All England Lawn Tennis Club at Wimbledon, due to be completed for the 2012 Olympics.

"Richard's record speaks for itself".

"He brings with him unrivalled experience in advising public and private sector clients, defining their needs and developing solutions that respond to those needs".

"I look forward to working with him to deliver exceptional results and benefits to our clients going forward", said Graham Kean, Head of Public Sector at E C Harris.
