Record output for the residential market
The prospects for the private residential market across Europe are positive, according to leading international consultants EC Harris.
The project has just received planning permission and phased work is due to start on site next month (June).
EC Harris were appointed by Derby City Council to project manage the scheme.
Contractors will be appointed shortly with the new school scheduled for re-opening in September 2008.
Race Cottam's design for the school reflects a strong partnership with Sinfin Community School, which has taken the opportunity to reform its learning structure and environment.
The design features separate hubs, accommodating key subject areas and reflecting a new 'house' type structure.
Funding for the scheme has been secured through the Government's Building Schools for the Future 'Pathfinder' programme and insurance monies from the devastating fire which destroyed much of the main teaching block.
Sinfin has specialist status in engineering and has developed close links with local industry and manufacturers.
Deputy headmaster Howard Jones said: "This represents a great opportunity for the school, community and city to not only rebuild Sinfin Community School to a 21st Century standard but also to gain recognition nationally as one of the first completed projects in this new wave of secondary education reform.
"The major driving force behind the design solution has developed from the educational aspirations; to create imaginative internal spaces, learning environments and correct relationships between different elements in the school.".
