Ecophon Presents The Public Face Of
Islington
Ecophon, together with Acoustilux Suspended Ceilings, one of its leading approved installers, fitted some 500 square metres of Ecophon's high performance products at Islington Council.
Transforming an ageing block of municipal offices into an attractive and modern place for council staff to interface with the public has offered Ecophon, together with one of its leading approved installers, a contract involving technical and logistical challenges The refurbishment of the main reception, account payments centre and other spaces within the London Borough of Islington's New Municipal Offices at 222 Upper Street, saw Acoustilux Suspended Ceilings fit some 500 square metres of Ecophon's high performance products

It is not simply the acoustic performance of the Ecophon tiles that motivates us to use them, it is also the selection of sizes available and their appearance.
We have been happy with the design assistance we were given and the work carried out by Acoustilux." More than 200 square metres of Focus D, 1200 x 1200 mm tiles, along with the Pi lighting system form the ceiling to the public area and payments centre, presenting a smart, low maintenance soffit.
Then the 600 x 600 version of the Focus D tile has been utilised in the corridor areas.
A further 200 square metres of Gedina E24, 1200 x 1200 mm tiles and grid containing Inversa lighting were specified for the computer suite.
All of the tiles have been mounted within Ecophon grid systems suspended from the building's existing concrete floor slabs, creating a 400 mm void for the routing of services.
The nature of the New Municipal Offices function and the volume of people passing through every weekday not only required Acoustilux to provide sections of temporary screening, limiting the disruption and ensuring safety, but also demanded some out of hours working.
