The locally based architects practice of Leigh Cooper Associates was responsible for both the design of the premises and the selection of Ecophon's Advantage E15 tile to combat reverberation in the busy workplace; as well as to create a smart modern soffit.
The Project Architect at Leigh Cooper Associates, Mr Craig Berry, comments: "When the client wanted to extend its premises to include a call centre, acoustics were obviously a very important consideration.
While price inevitably came into the equation, we mainly chose to use the Ecophon Advantage 15 on the basis of the test data the manufacturer was able to provide relating to sound absorption and reverberation times.
"Now the place is up and running the client is absolutely delighted that, although you are aware of a background murmur when it is full to the brim with operators on phones, there is none of the actual intrusion or distraction you can suffer in these places." In total more than 1500 square metres of the 600 x 600 mm Advantage E15 tiles were installed into ceiling grids throughout the open plan ground floor office, and the first floor call centre.
In the latter case the inclusion of the plant room equipment within the ceiling/roof space created a void in excess of five metres deep and required the use of extra long hangers.
More of the Advantage tiles and grid are to be found within the kitchen, washroom, stairway and other communal areas to the Northgate headquarters. Request a free brochure from Ecophon ...
