The construction of a new administrative headquarters for a high tech company in County Kerry, Ireland, has demonstrated the diversity and flexibility of the Ecophon range; with a variety of products being used to meet a number of challenges Fexco Limited's new facility has been designed by the Killarney based practice of O'Sullivan Campbell under the lead of project director Sean McGillicuddy

Riding a wave with the architectural S-line tile
Architect in charge at Ashton Sixth Form College made full use of Ecophon's innovative architectural ceiling tiles.
The installation of the Ecophon grids, tiles, planks and coffers was undertaken by Dryform Limited, working for the main contractor, Pat Mahoney Limited.
The Project Architect for O'Sullivan Campbell Architects, Mr Stephen O'Sullivan, comments: "Our specification of Ecophon's systems throughout the Fexco facility was down to the aesthetic attributes and flexibility of the products; as well as the level of technical assistance on offer.
"The technical manager was very hands on from the outset helping us to resolve issues regarding use of the systems.
We wanted sweeping profiles in some areas to suit coffers, while in the call centre and a second double height office area; acoustics were very much an issue to avoid high reverberation.
"While originally we were going to utilise Ecophon in just the two rooms where acoustics were a priority, and specify something cheaper elsewhere, when it came to pricing the whole package the manufacturer was actually very competitive." In executing the final design and specification, Dryform Limited installed one of Ecophon's coffer kits within a skimmed plasterboard ceiling to make the transition to a raised area of Focus E with integrated lighting modules.
In the call centre space Focus E was again chosen, but installed using T15 grid to achieve a sloping soffit: intended to maximise the amount of natural daylight penetrating the deep plan room.
Within this there are a series of featured rooflights which were accommodated using Ecophon's Quatro E 300 mm radius sections to form the internal corners.
This solution was repeated in the main open plan office area.
Then in the corridor areas Ecophon's linear plank profile was utilised either side of the T15 grid and Focus E tiles to offer a feature and facilitate easy access for service engineers. Request a free brochure from Ecophon ...
