The construction of an award winning new school for the States of Jersey has made extensive use of products from the Ecophon range, specified for their acoustic performance, appearance and overall robustness The Grand Vaux Primary School in St Saviours, Jersey has gained a Highly Commended award in a local design competition and has now been put forward for consideration for a Civic Trust award

The group leader for the States of Jersey's Public Services Department, Mr Jon Kempster, comments: "I have used Ecophon products many times for projects in Jersey - including other schools and the new departures building at Jersey airport - and found them to be very successful.
"In particular I have employed the Quadro products in places like school assembly halls, because it enables you to break up the shape of the ceiling and control the acoustic characteristics.
At Grand Vaux Primary school we have used the Ecophon Focus E and Quadro 300 in spaces such as classrooms, stairways and toilets as well as in the main multi-purpose hall." The main contractor for the construction programme was Stansell QVC, while the installer of the Ecophon products was locally based E McGarragle and Co .
The Public Services Department undertook the building services as well as the architectural design while Ross-Gower filled the role of structural engineer and HM Menzies the QS.
As part of their programme to encourage Continuous Professional Development, Ecophon has recently delivered three CPD seminars for specifiers based in the Channel Islands, including one specifically on the education environment for the States of Jersey. Request a free brochure from Ecophon ...
