Ecophon wears black for 'Italian Job' fit out

At the Preston Hall dealership in Cleveland, Ecophon played a key role in a major prestige refit where image and branding were essential.

The dealership on the Preston Farm industrial estate, Stockton-on-Tees, was completely redeveloped in a contract led by Mowlem.

Dixon Dawson from Chester-le-Street was the architectural practice responsible for the designs and Northern Interiors carried out the installation of the Ecophon Sombra D tiles.

They were supplied in black, which is an unusual colour specification, using a concealed grid system.

This was a very large contract where the original BMW and Mini showrooms were renovated and expanded while the existing workshops were moved to other premises.

"The Ecophon ceiling system was specified to fit with the corporate style for BMW and the work progressed very satisfactorily considering the complexity," said project architect for Dixon Dawson, Mr Andrew Scaife.

The Sombra D tiles were installed by Northern Interiors' three-man team over a six week period.

The black tiles matched the flooring and partitions which were also installed by Northern Interiors.

They worked in close cooperation with Mowlem and its electrical sub-contractor who installed the spotlights and other lighting systems.

The void above the concealed grid suspended ceiling system also contains air conditioning ductwork and other services.

Ecophon can offer customers a diverse selection of ceiling tiles, suspension systems and special styling products such as coffers.

The manufacturer is furthermore acknowledged as a specialist in providing solutions where issues such as acoustic performance and hygiene are critical.
