Ecophon coffers display artistic qualities
Architects behind the reconfiguration of a secondary school in County Durham as an arts college have found an unusual application for the illuminated ceiling coffers manufactured by Ecophon Limited
Mr Jones continues, "The refurbishment contract has turned out very well".
Ecophon coffers and illuminated level changes offer architects and interior designers the opportunity to break up large ceiling areas or to create visually dramatic soffits in a wide variety of environments: including hotels, restaurants, retail premises, call centres and even education establishments".
"In this instance the illuminated change of level sections served to conceal large volumes of mechanical and electrical service installations routed through a central walkway in the offices".
The manufacturer's Technical Consultant involved with the project, Paul Lake, adds: "The project involved several challenges across different parts of the building, including the level of noise in the large open plan office area.
We looked at the need to create a good acoustic environment for the large number of people working there and the requirement to introduce some feature lighting".
Main contractor, Tremlett and Griffith sub-contracted the installation of all the suspended ceilings and partitioning to Treborth Interiors as a specialist well experienced in fitting the Ecophon systems. Request a free brochure from Ecophon ...
