Architect in charge at Ashton Sixth Form College made full use of Ecophon's innovative architectural ceiling tiles.
The interior to the main hall has been fitted out with Grey Super G ceilings and matching Super G wall panels - addressing acoustic issues - while other products from the Ecophon range feature in the changing rooms and circulation areas.
One of the architects who have been involved with several projects at Dulwich College Preparatory School for the Lee Evans practice is Mr Tim Hickmott.
He comments: "We have employed Ecophon ceiling systems and acoustic wall panels for both the Sports Hall and Nursery School".
"Ecophon is one of the preferred manufacturers for sound reduction and other challenging applications".
Super G wall panels were employed in addition to the ceiling system to deal with the question of reverberation which had been identified by the architect's acoustician as a potential problem.
Having employed Ecophon for the nursery project, it was decided to stay with the same specification for the sports hall which, by keeping with the same supplier, also gave a cost benefit.
KG Ceilings , one of Ecophon's EPIC (Ecophon Partnership in Contracting) contractors, based in Orpington, undertook the installation of the various Ecophon products, working on behalf of the main contractor.
The Super G wall panels in Grey were fixed to the blockwork walls from a height of 2.7 metres upwards, running right around the main hall except where a climbing wall had been created.
Then Ecophon Hygiene ceiling tiles were used to create the soffit to the changing rooms as they offer enhanced resistance to humid conditions.
Finally Opta tiles were installed around the gallery level to the hall. Request a free brochure from Ecophon ...
