Ecophon ceilings revitalise council
buildings

System selected by Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council's architects was Ecophon's Gedina, providing a highly robust solution, very good noise attenuation as well as crisp lines.

Using acoustic ceiling systems from Ecophon, one of the Midlands' largest social housing providers has created a truly accessible new resource centre for its tenants within its main administrative building, utilising products from the range of Ecophon has helped create a stylish ceiling as part of a comfortable interior environment Indeed aesthetics were a top priority for Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council's architects when it came to converting tired reception and administrative areas into its smart new 'drop in centre' at the council offices in Oldbury

The work involved concerned converting part of the main reception area at the Council House, as well as adjoining offices.

This would allow people to come in and obtain any information required from one place rather than having to visit offices all over the borough.

Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council already used Ecophon across a whole range of projects, especially to provide acoustic solutions.

In this case though, the project featured a two storey space rising up from the ground floor.

Reverberation was not a concern but aesthetic appearance was a driving factor as the council wanted to give the place a total overhaul and facelift.

The system selected by Sandwell was Ecophon's Gedina E15 600 x 600, providing a highly robust solution, very good noise attenuation as well as crisp lines.

The ceiling was installed by specialist sub-contractor Marcia Interiors from Worcester while Thomas Vale Limited was the main contractor leading the project. Request a free brochure from Ecophon ...
