New HVAC Automation Provides Seamless Connectivity
ABB's drives for the HVAC sector are now supported by software drivers for the Compass protocol conversion system, from North Communications.
It can reduce the quantity of fresh water used for this purpose by up to 30%, thus creating significant savings on water and sewage bills for the end-user and helping conserve this important resource.
The system received a significant boost when it was voted as Green Product of the Year at the recent Sustainable Building Services Awards, and this latest endorsement adds to that success.
"There is increasing pressure to save water in the built environment and it is going to be challenging to meet the stricter levels of the Code for Sustainable Homes without using rainwater or greywater systems," says Waterwise Director Jacob Tompkins.

"However in a lot of high density new build rainwater is not suitable as sufficient volumes cannot be harvested.
Until now greywater systems have had problems relating to maintenance, water quality and the need for human intervention, however the Ecoplay system has overcome these issues.
Ecoplay is a clever fit and forget greywater solution.
It is ideally suited to high density, high value new build and can reduce household consumption by about a third".
The Ecoplay system collects water draining from the bath and shower, cleans it and then stores it for toilet flushing.
It needs no maintenance whatsoever from the user, has no filters to clean or replace, and its intelligent control system manages the quality of the recycled water at all times, automatically flushing it to drain if it is not used within a specified time.
The system is equally well suited to new-build or refurbishment projects and with various different models available to serve either one or two toilets Eco-play is ideally suited to all types of domestic projects whether single-storey or duplex..
"One of Ecoplay's major advantages is that is enables architects and specifiers to significantly boost the environmental value of their projects, and this is one of the advantages that Waterwise has recognised, " says Jilly Player-Bishop, New Business Development Director responsible for Ecoplay.
"Ecoplay can contribute towards achieving planning permission in environmentally sensitive areas and it will also help a home which is currently at level 1or 2 of the Code for Sustainable Homes be elevated to levels 3, 4, 5 and 6.
"Ecoplay is another result of the program of continuous development that drives the Macdee product range," adds Jilly.
"That range already includes many different types of flushing systems ranging from in-wall frames to traditional cisterns, so it really is a natural step for Macdee to take the experience it has gained and use it to move into the sustainability arena with a genuinely innovative product like this.".
