"This makes the system easy to install by technicians; engineers are not needed".
"The ease of installation and the system reliability can significantly reduce costs, especially when considered over the lifetime of the system, which can be up to 25 years".
Remotely monitored streetlight solutions reduce energy use and maintenance costs by using LonWorks-enabled electronic dimmable ballasts and i.LON SmartServers to communicate over the power line network.
Data from the streetlights is collected by the i.LON, which acts as a segment controller, and the data is sent to a city's monitoring center equipped with Streetlight.Vision Data Collect and Web Portal software.
The Data Collect software aggregates the volumes of data from the streetlights and the Web portal provides the end user with a comprehensive package of management applications, including energy consumption analysis, automatic failure identification, preventive maintenance and remote testing and monitoring of streetlights on city maps.
The new i.LON SmartServer's web services interface and the new version of streetlight monitoring software from Streetlight.Vision makes installation of a street lighting system easy - a streetlight maintenance company can now remotely configure an i.LON SmartServer and transform it into a fully functional streetlight segment controller in a matter of minutes.
The Streetlight.Vision software supports multiple types and brands of streetlight devices, and it enables the grouping of streetlights and remote configuration of on/off and dimming schedules, which can be based on sunset/sunrise, weather conditions, or fixed time schedules such as rush hours.
Other features include GPRS communication mode, alarms, commissioning and testing of each individual streetlight device, either onsite or remotely.
When configured with Streetlight.Vision Design software, an i.LON SmartServer can be monitored within minutes by the Streetlight.Vision Data Collect and Web Portal platform which is hosted on Streetlight.Vision's servers, saving additional time and cost during installation.
This high level of control can reduce energy usage by up to 50 percent, lower maintenance costs by up to 40 percent by automatically identifying and managing streetlight failures, and reduce average streetlight downtime by 75 percent.
The solution has been installed in France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Norway and the United Kingdom, all with similar results.
According to Bea Yormark, Echelon's president and COO, "Streetlight.Vision is a pioneer in developing software applications that extend the i.LON SmartServer into vertical applications, like streetlight monitoring, to conserve energy and reduce costs".
"We are proud to work with partners who are concerned about reducing energy waste and protecting our energy resources.".
