60 Minute Loft Conversion
Loft space fire barriers are crucial to conversions and also to comply with building regulations. Envirograf have made the task easy, cheap and simple and most important of all without any disruption.
The safety brief from Steve Topham The Fire Officer was that both fire and smoke protection needed to be paramount in the stair areas and also around the doors.
The products used for this project were Envirograf smoke seals for the doors and also three Envirograf Fire and Smoke Drop Curtains, two for the stairs and one for the kitchen area.
The curtains supplied are motorised and connected to the fire alarm system, when the fire alarm is activated they will descend to close the void, thus preventing penetration from both fire and smoke.
One of the curtains installed, featured above needed to be customised to compensate for the invalid stair lift.
The Nursing Home has link corridors on each floor for escape purposes but for an additional escape route the curtains have been supplied with an emergency override switch.
The project was passed to the satisfaction of Mr Steve Topham Mr Andy Cole, Building Control Officer with North East Lincolnshire Council.
