Envirograf provide a display case for a section of a tree trunk signed by Scott of the Antarctict, making it secure and, in a fire, would prevent any damage to the log.

Plymouth has seen many famous explorers throughout history, and when housebuilders Barratt's of Exeter realised that on their new Plymouth Explorer Court development site, a section of a tree trunk signed by Scott of the Antarctic had been left languishing in the loft of the local church St Bartholomew's they set out a plan to preserve the log in a secure and fire-proof display case Technical fire consultants Fire Retardant Services of Ivybridge, Devon a regional office of Envirograf was contacted to provide a display case that could be both secure from potential thieves and in a fire would prevent any damage to the log from fire, smoke or water

The case had to be carefully constructed to a precise detail and the products used to protect the artefact will ensure this unique historical piece can be conserved for generations to come.

The main fire-proofing products used in the display case was Envirograf Intumescent paper, seals and fireproof sponge.

The seals and paper where used to prevent the passage of fire and smoke and the use of the sponge would greatly assist in insulating against heat and reducing the risk of any charring to the log from the flames.
