Emseal unveils hybrid Seismic Joint System

An Emseal Joint Systems product story
Edited by the Buildingtalk editorial team Jun 6, 2006

Emseal, a manufacturer of sealants, expansion joints and gasket products, has launched the Seismic Joint System (SJS).

This hybrid system is suitable for use in applications requiring watertight, sound-dampened seismic and large movement joints, such as in parking decks, stadiums and floors.

The SJS is a modular composite of engineered metal components, enhanced existing horizontal-plane hybrid silicone bellows and impregnated foam technology.

The system consists of two or more pre-assembled horizontal joints that are adjacent to a heavy-duty, extruded-aluminium spline.

The spline is the receptor for the attachment of heavy-duty cover plates, which bear vehicle and other loads and wear.

The hybrid components made of silicone and impregnated foam, act to anchor the system, ensure that it is watertight, absorb sound and dampen vibration.
