Emseal's fire rated acoustic wall joints

Emseal Joint Systems offers a two hour fire rated wall expansion joint now rated for sound barrier applications.

The Emshield WFR2 has a two hour fire rating of UL 2079 certification for concrete walls, and for the UL two hour fire rating in gypsum walls.

As a result, Emshield WFR2 has UL and ULC certification in U300 and U400 fire rated gypsum wall construction.

Emseal's wall expansion joint has been subjected to independent Sound Transmission Class (STC) testing and Outdoor-Indoor Transmission Class (OITC).

Initial testing of the WFR2 for sound transmission class rating, exceeded that of the STC 56 wall in which it was tested.

A higher rated wall was then constructed and a 4" WFR2 tested to SCT 62 in a SCT 68 wall, and 6" WFR2 tested to SCT 64 in a SCT 68 wall.

The outdoor-indoor sound test returned a rating of OITC 52 for both products.

All tests were for installation from only one side on the wall.

Emshield WFR2 also acts as a thermal insulator, accommodates structural movement and is watertight.

It can achieve LEED points by contributing to the indoor environmental quality of the facility.

Both sides of the WFR2 are available in separate colors to coordinate with the adjoining wall colors.

Emshield products are easy to install vertical and horizontal expansion joints which are manufactured to handle structural movement.

The single unit construction of the joints eliminates the need for multiple products to achieve effective sealing.
