The memorial stones are Portland limestone which contains many shells.
Whilst not a problem in itself, the very fine design of lettering meant that special tools had to be designed to produce the craftsmanship required.
Marketing Manager Chris Crorie said: "It was a huge job and we were asked to make the shaping and carving tools, as well as supplying blades".
"The carving tools had to cope with the very hard shells in the stone, keeping their shape for fine carving of thousands of letters".
