First class education from Euroclad

Euroclad has supplied a striking aluminium Euroseam roof for Herod Parkway School in Swindon.

The replacement of the school building is part of a PFI project involving the construction of seven new schools in the area Over 8000m2 of the standing seam roofing was installed in plain mill aluminium with a stucco embossed finish on the sports hall

Comprising both straight and tapered sheets, the specially constructed perforated panels ensure a superior acoustic performance and an attractive design.

Manufactured in a bespoke thickness of 1.2 mm and installed by Ernest Ward Roofing, the roofing system ensures the building conforms to Part E of the Building Regulations and Building Bulletin 93 (BB93).

There has been a significant tightening of the regulation of acoustic design in schools, with Section 1 of BB93 stating 'each room or other space in a school building shall have the acoustic conditions and the insulation against disturbance by noise appropriate to its normal use'.

Appropriate sound insulation is also an important factor under Section IV of the Disability Discrimination Act, and as such, it is essential that school buildings provide low ambient noise levels.

Euroseam is based on the principle of "zipping-up" sheet side laps over supporting halters using a mechanical seaming tool.

This design ensures free movement under thermal expansion, no end laps and low maintenance performance.

Euroseam is highly durable due to the lack of penetrations to the external sheet and provides excellent weathering and drainage.

Andy Turnbull of Ernest Ward Roofing comments: "The Euroseam roofing system was easy to install and offers a durable, and attractive roofing solution".

"I have used the system before and am constantly impressed with the quality of the product and level of service".

The sheets were rollformed on site, and then craned up to the roof.

Euroseam offers drive-on-drive-off manufacture, with on-site rollforming units reducing transport, crane and packaging costs.

Mobile production can also eliminate the risk of roof damage during transit.

Euroseam can be smooth curved down to a radius of just 6m and can be manufactured in great lengths, ensuring the perfect length and fit for every project. Request a free brochure from Euroclad ...
