Ex-Or energy saving products and systems soar
Lighting management leader Ex-Or has seen a huge increase in sales of its energy saving products and systems around the world as energy costs continue to soar.
They replaced the existing inefficient lighting system with suspended Fagerhult luminaires to bring the new system up to LG7 Lighting Guide standards.
The lighting is controlled by The Ex-Or MLS Digital Managed Lighting System by means of discrete detectors and controls built-in to the luminaires.
The MLS Digital lighting management system ensures that lights throughout the offices are on only when they are actually needed and automatically dim and brighten to provide the best possible levels of light for staff.
Detectors within the system automatically sense the presence of occupants and measure levels of ambient light.
The detectors communicate with each other to provide the correct level of lighting to occupants in designated work zones throughout the open plan areas and ensure that lights in key circulation areas and corridor routes are kept on.
Said Cundall senior electrical engineer Roger Rigby: "The main driver for Royal and SunAlliance was efficient delivery of lighting so that the system would be environmentally friendly as possible.
The company has an energy team which actively monitors energy use throughout the complex and it estimates it is saving GBP3,000 a year off the lighting energy bill as a direct result of the new lighting system".
He said the former lighting system in the office complex was both old fashioned and inappropriate, particularly as some of their staff members need to work in the early mornings and late evenings.
"They needed a system that would automatically deliver correct levels of light whenever required.
Previously, the landlord had to be contacted whenever lights were needed outside the core working hours.
"Ex-Or is a preferred supplier to Fagerhult Lighting and Cundall have had positive previous experience with Ex-Or's lighting management systems.
Certainly Royal and SunAlliance is very pleased with the end results and it has found favour with its staff who appreciate the more pleasant lit environment they now work in.".
