Eternit Helps Cement Bond
When a charity for children and donkeys identified a site for its third centre, it met greenfield requirements with the help of Eternit Building Materials' fibre cement profiled sheeting.
EST, The Elisabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkeys, that provides riding therapy for children with special needs and disabilities, already has centres in Sidmouth, where it was founded, and in Birmingham In conjunction with the local authority, it identified a council-owned three-hectare site on the outskirts of Leeds as the ideal tranquil woodland setting to provide its services to local schools

Eternit Slates' Guide To Heavenly Roofs
Eternit Slates, the market leader in double-lap slating, has launched a new detailed guide containing information on its wide range of 'heavenly' slates.
The centre at Eccup, which was officially opened by the late Dame Thora Hird, now comprises stables, amenity block and staff bungalow roofed in 400m of natural slate, and covered arena roofed in 500m of Eternit's Profile 61 sheeting system.
Although the centre was designed by Leeds' civic architect in conjunction with the trust's property services manager, the Profile 61 was specified by architect David Horton for its "economic" pre-coloured blue finish to respect the greenbelt setting.
Installed by Temban Roofing Construction for main contractor Quarmby Construction, the system comprises a weathering skin of Profile 6R reinforced sheeting, a blanket of mineral wool insulation, and a rigid metal profiled lining tray with a white internal surface.

Eternit Slates Shapes St Martins
St Martins Street, Hereford, is home to a highly individual development of 15 luxury apartments that have made extensive use of Eternit Slates Galante natural slate.
The inner skin of metal profiled sheeting is first laid onto a support system such as Ashgrid AG40 where the brackets are fixed to the roof purlins depending on the pitch and windloading.
The insulation blanket of 100mm mineral wool was then laid on the lining sheets, providing a U value of 0.45 W/mK to satisfy building regulations.
The thermal conductivity of the insulation is 0.037 W/mK.
The Profile 6R is particularly high-strength as it also features polypropylene reinforcement strips inserted along precisely engineered locations that run for the full length of the sheet in each corrugation.
This provides maximum reinforcement strength with no loss of durability in service, enabling Eternit to offer a 30-year guarantee on its sheets and fittings.
Profile 6R also meets the standards of safety in roofing work set out in the Health and Safety Executive document "Health and Safety in Roof Work" (HSG 33).
Beneficiaries of the trust, which was founded in 1975 by Dr Elisabeth Svendsen MBE, are taught by qualified riding instructors to ride and care for the donkeys.
The children range from those with learning difficulties to those that are physically disabled or have behavioural problems, brain damage or sensory impairment.
Every week, up to 150 children are brought to the centre by their school or hospital, and once a month on a Saturday or during school holidays they can attend with their families.
During the summer, mobile units take the donkeys out to those children in schools and hospitals who because of their disabilities, cannot travel to the centres. Request a free brochure from Marley Eternit ...
