Jarvis Homes specified Eternit's handcrafted Ashdowne range in Aylesham, Chelwood and Ashurst colours for vertical tile hanging and the double-cambered Acme range in Burnt Flame, Red Smooth and Natural Orange colours for roofs at The Bourne, in Harpenden, Hertfordshire The Bourne is a luxury redevelopment on Townsend Lane/Salisbury Avenue, in the heart of the prestigious "Avenues" area of the town, of a locally listed house that used to be owned by JC Jarvis, the father of the Ernest Charles Jarvis, founder of Jarvis Homes in 1905

Eternit tiles at Pondtail Close
Natural clay plain tiles from Eternit Building Materials have been used on the roofs and walls of a mixture of townhouses and apartments by the design-led developer Swan Hill Homes.
A block of eight two-bedroomed apartments features a secure underground car park, with three suites on the ground and first floors and two on the second floor, and traditional architectural features such as angled corner bays and oriel windows.
Working to a brief to retain the Arts and Crafts style of "Meota" and harmonise the new homes with both that and other prominent Avenue houses, Jarvis Homes also had to consider the emphasis placed on the detailing and character of the area because of its Conservation Area status.
K and R Roofing Contractors used a mixture of 75% Aylesham, 20% Chelwood and 5% Ashurst with Bullnose ornamentals and vertical external corner tiles for the tile hanging with the single-cambered Ashdowne range.
For the machine-made Acme range on the roofs they used 75% Burnt Flame, 20% Red Smooth and 5% Natural Orange with granny bonnet hips and mortared half-round ridges.
Graham Pepperdine, Jarvis Homes' new homes development surveyor, said: "The brief included the need to use high-quality, traditional materials and the quality and range of products offered by Eternit enabled this brief to be met.
"We have specified Eternit products for a number of years, maintain a range of the their literature and samples in our product library and when required, call upon the assistance of their sales representative." He added: "The choice of materials played a very important part in the appearance of the homes and how well they complement the local environment. Request a free brochure from Marley Eternit ...
