Leading roofing manufacturer Marley Eternit has welcomed the Government's plans to continue subsidising photovoltaic (PV) roofs.
In 2001, Marley Eternit was the first company to be accredited under the BRE's Certified Environmental Profiles Scheme, which was the initial step that involved implementing a full life cycle assessment of products.
Since then the company has gone from strength to strength providing life cycle assessment data for all of its small element roofing products to date.
Company wide initiatives undertaken by Marley Eternit include the substitution of non-renewable materials, minimising packaging usage, reducing production waste, energy management, recycling, and water recovery.
Marley Eternit also works with educational establishments, trade associations and suppliers to share its knowledge and experience.
Environmental advisor Rebecca White and Mike Carter, Marley Eternit's quality and environmental development manager, were presented with the industry commendation by David Cameron, Leader of the Conservative Party.
